Thanks to our volunteer CJ for this amazing BANNER!!!!!
We accept dachshund rescues here (other breeds are referred to other rescues due to space constraints). Abused, neglected, and special needs dogs are welcome. We vet, tame, and train (house manners) the dogs before considering them for re-homing.
If a rescue is pregnant when she arrives, her litter is placed with spay/neuter contacts at weaning or after pediatric spay/neuter. Re-homed rescues are placed after spay/neuter (unless already altered) for a basic re-homing fee $50 -$100 (micro-chipped or registered, additional fees) per dog to help us cover vet and feed expenses. Full disclosure of rescue and health circumstances is given with ALL placements. Any rescue that comes to us with registration papers/records will be spayed/neutered before those papers are transfered to adopting family.
We do get show and breed retirees who are AKC and UKC and CKC registered at times. Unless these dogs are pointed CHAMPIONS, or close to being finished as CHAMPIONS, it is our policy to spay/neuter them as well, prior to placement. Champions or nearly finished dogs can be shown or offered to a home un-altered contingent upon being shown/finished, under contract.
All rescue home placement families must provide at least two personal references and a veterinary reference to be verified prior to placement of the dog(s). We do check these references, follow up on these placements over time to make sure our babies are safe and happy in their forever homes!
Anyone who has dealt with rescues themselves will know how rewarding it is. He/She will also know how financially draining each one is. The benefit as each dog learns to love/trust again is the payback. In 2009, Dachsie Indulgence Kennels placed 184 rescues into new forever homes. That is a sad reflection of the downturn in our economy, an unfortunate part of rural living, and a rewarding happy payback for the hard work by the partners and volunteers here at DACHSIE INDULGENCE KENNELS!

We are delighted to welcome Dixie. She is a Doxie/Pug mix, born 02/01/2010, and is solid black. She's precious, friendly, and really active. She likes to hide when she's naughty and pops up out of nowhere to chew your toes. Her former owner had health issues and had to find a new home for her. She was much loved and spoiled. We're going to find her a new family who will love her just as much! Mandatory Spay Contract placement fee $25 after spay placement fee $75

This interesting lady is Molly, a dachshund/chihuahua mix. She's a total sweetheart here with us and we are watching her bloom! She came to us a very frightened misunderstood girl from a family that couldn't handle her anymore. She needs a home that can be patient with her and give her space and love. She's spayed. She has a flea allergy and nervous dermatitis. She is not very good with rowdy teenagers or grabby children. Placement fee $50
These two are Crazy Eyes and Charly, littermates originally rescued from a puppy mill elsewhere in Alabama. Their original rescuer had health issues and had to bring them to us. Crazy Eyes is a spayed doubled dapple piebald red female who is deaf and blind in one eye. She has a severe flea allergy. Charly is a handsome neutered red dapple male. He's very shy and skittish. He has a milder form of his sister's flea allergy and his ears were chewed badly at one point in his life so they are scarred. Once they know you they just want to cuddle and play. Placement fee $75 each
