We accept dachshund rescues here (other breeds are referred to other rescues due to space constraints).  Abused, neglected, and special needs dogs are welcome.  We vet, tame, and train (house manners) the dogs before considering them for re-homing. We try to teach doggie door training, or housebreaking, but we don't always have enough staff or time, to complete the training. 

Rescues are placed after spay/neuter (unless already altered) for a basic re-homing fee  $50 -$100  (micro-chipped or registered, additional fees) per dog to help us cover vet and feed expenses. This is about 1/2 of the actual costs. IF ANY DOG IS PLACED PRIOR TO SPAY/NEUTER, IT IS WITH UNDER SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT giving new owner 30-60 days (depending on age of dog) to complete the alteration.  Full disclosure of rescue and health circumstances is given with ALL placements.  Any rescue that comes to us with registration papers/records  will be spayed/neutered by contract or by this facility before those papers are transfered to adopting family. We do get show and breed retirees who are AKC and UKC and CKC registered at times. All rescue home placement families must provide at least two personal references and a veterinary reference to be verified prior to placement of the dog(s). We do check these references, follow up on these placements over time to make sure our babies are safe and happy in their forever homes!

 

Chief is a Doxie/Jack Russell Terrier mix (approximate date of birth 11/13/11). We're keeping his shots up to date and he's a fiesty lil bugger. He needs a loving home.                                                                  

June Carter Cash has gained a lil weight since this picture. She's still only a 7-ish pound dog and skittish. Her DOB is 07/05/07 and she just needs a loving home. She's an AKC smooth red.

Aline is a 7+lb beautiful red AKC girl. DOB 09/17/06. She's just whelped her final litter of pups and will be ready for her forever home around Valentine's Day. She's a loving sweet girl, a little shy til she knows she's safe with you.

      Bobby is an AKC (and DNA'd and microchipped) red smooth mini dachshund. He's got dental issues but is a fiesty lil guy DOB 8/29/07. He needs a good home where he can become the grand old man and be the King of his castle.                 

   

Alex   chocolate & tan longhair   AKC & microchipped. He's got dental issues but is a healthy and loving happy old man DOB 06/11/03. He smiles all the time and is one of the friendliest boys we've got out here.

We're welcoming Dutch, a 7.5 yr old short haired German Shepherd Dog to our Rescue family here at DoxieWoods! He's Neutered, housebroken, loves children, well socialized with other dogs of all sizes and protects his house!                                                         Placement Fee $50
